抄録: | This work is a study on typhoon-induced storm surge which affects to the coastal zone including a shelf. A linearized model of semi-infinite ocean is assumed in order to know a specific dynamics of the storm surge as a Kelvin wave with some additional variations.By chance, four typhoons had landed just neighbour the Shirahama Oceanographic Tower as an offshore fixed station for oceanographical and meteorological observations in 1990.The first one of the typhoons, namely T 9019, had caused a serious damage to the tower located off the south coast of Japan facing the northwestern Pacific.In addition, a recent anticipation has been raised about threat of a hazardous storm surge induced by a typhoon in relation to the national and poblic activities in the coastal zones.At this stage, it is necessary to know what is a hydrodynamical mechanism of a storm surge induced by a typhoon travelling parallel to the coastline facing an ocean as well as what had done for the other events in the past. A discussion could be expected to be a helpful key to solving related problems and to finding a more effective warning system or protection works in the coastal zones. |
