抄録: We apply a method of estimating three-dimensional wind velocity using reflectivity information proposed by Nakakita et al.(1991) to a wide area which covers almost Japanese Archipelago heading to the coming application into the information from spaceborne radars.In applying this method into the wide area, we must pass through two problems, one is roughness of the time interval of observations by spaceborne radar and another is that no information on three-dimensional distribution of radar reflectivity will be available before an actual spaceborne radar will be launched. Regarding the former problem, we ignore the temporal variation in a basic equation, and regarding the latter one, we roughly estimate three-dimensional information using horizontal distribution of precipitation intensity which is estimated from GMS data.After applying this method into a wide area, the assumption of isotropic convergence has changed into the assumption of non-rotational flow so that it could have clearer physical meaning although we know that it would not be reasonable in wide area.
