Abstract

This paper adresses the need for analizing potential risks involved in lifeline systems of water utilization under the occurrence of a multiplex disaster such as the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. A syatematic methodology for analyzing such disaster risks is proposed, with an application to the earthquake-stricken region of Kobe.Bottlenecks of water utilization on systems of hospitals have been identified by use of the proposed methodology. In conclution it is suggested that further case studies may be needed to examine the applicability of the proposed model.
