抄録: | Determination of the particle size of powder is very important in industrial as well as theoretical use. There are various measuring methods, among which the sedimentation method is generally adopted. We have invented a very simple and precise apparatus, "an automatically recording sedimentation balance" for this purpose, as expressed by Stokes law. As the old apparatuses are too compricated, we have devised an improved apparatus, quite new and of very simple mechanism for general industrial use. By means of this apparatus, we examined the foundamental problem of sedimental analysis, especially the effect of peptiser and the concentration of suspension and obtained some examples applicable for practical use. The results obtained on several samples of powder by this method showed good agreement with those by other methods. In short, this is a very simple and accurate measuring apparatus to determine the distribution curve of particle size between 40μ and 0.5μ. |
