日向灘地殻活動総合観測線による地殻変動連続観測-1996年10月、12月の地震(共にM6.6)に関連した地殻活動-

Abstract

1996年10月19日, および12月3日に日向灘中部でM6.6の地震が続けて発生した。日向灘地殻活動総合観測線のうち, 2つの地震に一番近い宮崎観測所の伸縮計記録では, 地震発生の約18ヶ月前から歪変化率が増加し, 地震発生後まで続いている。主歪解で見ると、南北伸張軸の値が, 異常変動が始まる前の約5倍の1.6×10-6/yearとなった。また, これらの地震以後, 日向灘全域で地震活動が活発になった。

Two M6.6 earthquakes occurred at the central part of Hyuganada Sea, east off Kyushu, on October and December, 1966. Continuous strain observations in the vault at Miyazaki Observatory, DPRI, Kyoto Univ., where 52 km and 19 km respectively apart from the epicenters of each event, revealed increase in strain rate at 18 months before the occurrence of the first event. The major axis of the principal strain rate is expansion of 1.6 × 10-6/year in north-south direction that is five times of the value before the appearance of this acceleration of strain accumulation.
