Abstract: 姶良カルデラ西縁部の吉野台, 北西縁部の青敷玄武岩, 及び桜島火山に分布する火山岩のK-Ar年代測定を行った。その結果, 吉野台のカルデラ壁は0.35Ma以降に形成されたことが明らかになった。また青敷玄武岩の年代値は0.08±0.02Maであり, 姶良火砕噴火の数万年前の玄武岩質マグマ活動の存在を示唆する。桜島火山のボーリングコア試料の再測定結果は最近1万年以内の年代値を示し, 既存の値と矛盾しない。
Volcanic history of Aira caldera was discussed by K-Ar dating of volcanic rocks from western Yoshino-dai area, Aoshiki basalt at northwestern Kamo area and those from Sakurajima volcano. The result implies that the caldera wall at Yoshino-dai area formed at least after 0.35 Ma. The K-Ar age of 0.08 Ma from Aoshiki basalt also implies that the activity of basaltic magmas occurred a few ten thousand years before the Aira pyroclastic eruption. The reanalysis of lava flow from the bottom in the Harutayama onservation well of Sakurajima volcano shows its eruptive age within a ten thousand years, which agrees with the previous result.
