| 抄録: | The Japanese word saki means the end of something long, and it is also used in spatial and temporal expressions. While saki always indicates forward in spatial expressions, it indicates both forward and backward in temporal expressions. Why is there the incongruity? The answer may be closely connected with how human beings recognize time. This article suggests that image-schema theory in cognitive linguistics may help to answer the question. |
