抄録: | This study examines Tutuba language verbs based on my own fieldwork data. The goal is to distinguish the collected verbs from the features and aim to develop the further research and study because the collected data is not insufficient. I categorize Tutuba verbs into the following three, ① impersonal verbs, ② intransitive verbs (except the impersonal verbs), and ③ transitive verbs. The meteorological verbs are the impersonal verbs, and their features are to take dummy subjects. The verbs to sleep, to jump, to bathe, etc. and the verbs expressing existence and non existence are the intransitive verbs. The verbs to hit, to push, to break, and to tire etc., are the transitive verbs. Most transitive verbs end with the vowel '-i' and this is supposed to be the feature of it. There is a productive process which derives a transitive verb from an intransitive verb. When the suffix '-i, tei' attaches to the end of some intransitive verbs, they can be used as transitive verbs. I also found the verb which is supposedly the causative verb, but it requires more data because the collected sample is few. In order to make a more detailed study of the verb classification, as to verify the nature of the causative verb, further study of the Tutuba language is needed. |
