抄録: This study examines Tutuba language verbs based on my own fieldwork data. The goal is to differentiate between the various kinds of verbs in this language and describe their functions. The minimal verb phrase in Tutuba consists of the head and a proclitic subject pronoun which specifies person and number of the subject. The subclass of verbs consists of the following subsets.①. ambitransitive verbs, ②. intransitive verbs and ③. transitive verbs. Ambitransitive verbs function both as transitives and as intransitive with no change in form. Intransitive verbs have a primary valency of one, with an obligatory subject pronoun and transitive verbs have a valency of two or sometimes three. Intransitive verbs and transitive verbs are further distinguished between impersonal and personal verbs. Intransitive personal verbs are divided into positive existential verbs, posture verbs, motion verbs and derived verbs. On the other hand, transitive impersonal verbs are divided into meteorological transitive verbs and negative existential verbs, and transitive personal verbs are divided into derived verbs, reflexive verbs and extended transitive verbs which take oblique object.
