| dc.description.abstract | Hydrodynamic phenomena accompanied with chemical wave propagation are investigated for ferroin catalyzed Belousov-Zhabotinsky (BZ) reaction by two-dimensional spectrophotometry and two-dimensional velocimetry based on microscope video imaging techniques. Two remarkable phenomena of hydrodynamic instability are detected even under covered liquid/gas interface, leaving an air gap of 11 mm above the layer surface. 1)Convective flow is induced by a circular wave propagation in well reduced BZ-solution. 2)Oscillatory hydrodynamic flow is induced by the periodic passage of spiral wave trains. Periodically varying deformations and decompositions of chemical wave profiles are caused by the oscillatory flow. A correlation between two hydrodynamic phenomena is discussed and an experimental model explaining onset of the oscillatory flow and dynamic pattern deformation is proposed. | en |
