Abstract

1. Changes in urinary white cell excretion rate p er hour following intramuscular injection of iron-sorbitol-citric-acid (Jectofer) showed a good accordance with increase in bacterial counts of quantitative bacterial culture. For this reason, the test of Jectofer injection for diagnosis of pyelonephritis is thought to be useful method. 2. Cases having urinary white cell excretion rate is mo r e than 400, 000p er hour should be put on medical care. 3. In pyeloneph r itis, a deficiency of concentrating ability is the characteristic finding and it remains longer than the time of normalization of the results in quantitative bacterial culture and Jectofer test. 4. Hypertension is not seen as far as tubular deficiency is limited at distal tubule. 5. Criteria of healed state of pyelonephritis is reviewed.
