dc.description.abstractMost of the saltating sand particles on a granular bed in a turbulent stream have successively continued the saltation motion. In this paper, such a saltation motion is defined as successive saltation. A theory of the successive saltation of a single sand particle on a granular bed is proposed on the basis of the equation of motion for the saltation and the dynamic characteristics of collision between a saltaing sand particle and bed sand particles. The theoretical relationships for the saltation height and distance and for their distribution characteristics are in good agreement with the results of the experiments.en
