ヒマラヤ・ラダークの移牧の特質 : 農耕・牧畜・交易複合システム

Abstract

本稿は, ラダーク管区において, 1)高度差を伴う農耕システム, 2)高度差を利用した牧畜システム, 3)広域交易システムを把握し, 4)ラダーク管区の農耕・牧畜・交易複合システムを形成させた要因を分析することを目的とした. ドムカル三村, クラムリック, 高層草地プでの環境利用について調査した結果, 農耕が中心的な生産活動として存立し, その農耕に合わせるように家畜飼養と広域交易を生業に組み込んでいることが明らかとなった. ラダークでは一つの世帯が農耕, 牧畜, 広域交易に携わっていることが特徴である. ラダークでは, 乾燥条件のもと, 水資源を求めて扇状地や渓谷部の狭い平地に集落を形成している. ラダークの「乾燥」「冷涼」「狭い平地」という厳しい制限要因が, それぞれの世帯に農耕・牧畜・広域交易という多様な生産活動を必要として迫らせたと考えられる. そして, このような厳しい生態環境下において, ラダークの人々は「謙虚・互助」に生き抜くことにより, 高地により適応して生活しようとしている. ここに, 生態環境の制限に左右されながらも, 人びとの生態環境への働きかけがあり, ラダークという高地文明を形成しているのである.

The purpose of this paper is to understand 1) the agricultural system changed by altitude differences, 2)pastoralism system with using altitude differences, 3) the broad trade system in Ladakh, and to analyze 4) factors which form the complex system among agriculture, pastoralism and broad trade in Ladakh. From the survey on uses of environments by the local peoples in Domkhar villages and Kuramric, it became clear that the agricultural activity plays the core role on their subsistence and they take the livestock feeding and broad trade into their subsistence mainly according to the pattern of agricultural activities. The characteristics of subsistence in Ladakh is that one household involves in the activities of agriculture, pastoralism and also broad trade. Because of the arid condition in Ladalkh, the villages are located in the flat area of alluvial fan or valley to get water resources. It was considered that the severe restricting factors such as aridity, coldness and limited flat area in Ladakh make the multiple production activities necessary for an each household. Under these severe natural circumstances, Ladakh peoples try to adapt to the highland space by taking such life mode as "modesty and mutual cooperation". Although the natural circumstances deeply restrict the life of Ladakh peoples, they encourage their life to use its natural circumstances better by the life mode as "modesty and mutual cooperation", which forms the highland civilization in Ladakh.
