抄録: | The Kingdom of Bhutan is one of the smallest Himalayan countries, which is known as one of the happiest country in the world. It has a rich cultural and ecological variety. Due to its sparse population and geographical condition, access to health facilities is difficult. The Ministry of Health in Bhutan is trying to establish the equitable and sustainable health delivery system, which is based on Gross National Happiness (GNH) principles, but still there are so many challenges and obstacles to achieve this goal. Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital (JDWNRH) is the only tertiary care center and the only health facility, which has neonatal ward and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in the country. The author is the first Neonatologist to work in this country as a full time volunteer. This article is to share the author's experience and challenges faced in managing neonatal service in a resource-limited country. |
