Abstract: 1. A. C. Bestの式_1), 2) - (1)を招介し, x→x_maxの時点で生ずる欠点を指摘した。2. Bestの式の森林における展開を試み, 次のBest函数の変形式が森林に適用されることを確認した。3. (2), (3)式の諸性質について検討した。4, 母数a, n, βについて簡単な検討を試みた。5. 今後の諸問題とBestの式の有効性を指摘した。
This paper dealt with the new method which was considered to be useful for the purpose of quantitative description and analysis of existing state of forest ecosystems. 1) The experimental formulae proposed by BEST A. C.1), 2) about 20 years ago (Equation 1, 2 and 3) were introduced, and then, the problems arised at point of X→Xmax in equation (3) were scrutinized. [Figure omitted] 2) Intending to develop the new method for quantitative analysis of woodland ecosystems, a trial of expansion of the BEST's FUNCTION was made. In some natural and artificial forest ecosystems, the BEST's FUNCTION could be rewrited as following, [Figure omitted] 3) The properties of equation (4) and (5) were discussed based on mathematical and biological points of views. 4) The properties of α, β and n, which indicated the three parameters in equation (4) and (5), were investigated. 5) The advantages of equation (4) and (5) as the new method for quantitative analysis of forest ecosystems were suggested.
