住宅の外観的特徴とイメージの関係 : 住宅の「洋風な」イメージに影響を与える外観的特徴についての考察

Abstract

正面から撮影された住宅写真9枚を試験体に用い, 学生を主たる被験者にして住宅外観のイメージ調査を行った。その結果, 住宅の外観上の「開口率」が大きければ大きいほど, 住宅外観の「洋風な」イメージは弱くなるということが明らかとなった。さらに, 様々な住宅写真38枚を用いて住宅外観のイメージ調査を行った。「開口率」「無塗装木材柱の有無」「煙突の有無」を, 住宅の外観的特徴を表す変数として用い, 「洋風な」イメージの重回帰分析を行ない, 予測式の構築を試みた。この「洋風な」イメージの予測式は, 過去に行われた2つの住宅外観のイメージ調査の結果にもよく当てはまった。さらに, 50才代の女性を被験者として同様のイメージ調査を行った。その結果, 学生を被験者とした場合と, 50才代の女性を被験者とした場合で, 住宅外観の「洋風な」イメージの評価についての大きな違いはないことがわかった。

Questionnaires using nine photographs of houses taken from the front were distributed to students as subjects. The result indicated that the larger "the ratio of opening areas" on the houses, the less "western" image of houses became. In addition, questionnaires using 38 various house-photographs were distributed to students. Characteristics of house exteriors were expressed by "the ratio of opening areas" and the existences of "woody column" and/or "chimney" in the facade of houses using variables of "1" or "0". By the multiple regression analysis between the questionnaire results and the three variables i.e. "the ratio of opening areas", "existence of non-painted wood column" and "existence of chimney", a formula for prediction of "western" image of house appearance was proposed. The prediction formula was well applied to the result of two sets of questionnaires in the past. Furthermore, the same questionnaires were distributed to women in their 50's as subjects. The result indicated that there was no special difference on the evaluation of "western" image between the subjects of students and those of the women.
