Abstract: This article discusses the use of various kinds of data in a large-scale language program. In 2005, a student satisfactionsurvey was conducted in the Interdepartmental English Language Program at Dokkyo University and, contrary to ourexpectations, only 30% of the students responded positively. Since then, various efforts have been made to improve thequality of the program, utilizing the data we obtained from different origins. These efforts were recognized in the form ofa MEXT GP grant that was awarded to the program in 2009. The program data were obtained from student evaluations, satisfaction surveys, Can-do List questionnaires, student feedback forms to English learning advising sessions, and othersources. This article explains how the program based its reforms on these data and obtained positive results, and suggests aneed for greater involvement by the university administration and offices.
