玄冬のAACK : 京都大学の過去100年間の登山活動

Abstract

京都大学の登山活動は, 2015年でちょうど100年を迎えた。その登山活動を4つの時期に分けて概説する。登山を通じて, どのようなパイオニアワークがなされたのか。その際に, どのような犠牲が払われたのか。事実に即した検証を試みた。登山活動の推移を人間の一生にたとえると, 青春, 朱夏, 白秋, 玄冬にたとえられるだろう。京都大学の登山活動は玄冬の時期を迎えたといえるだろう。その歴史を担ってきた京都大学学士山岳会 (AACK) の今後の課題を3つにまとめた。(1) 過去の事業のアーカイブ化と公開, (2) 現在に付託されている活動継続と京大山岳部という現役への支援, (3) 将来への展望としての新しい学術の展開である。その将来を担うものが, 2013年に始まった京都大学リーディング大学院「霊長類学・ワイルドライフサイエンス」だといえる。

The year 2015 is the 100th year anniversary of mountaineering in Kyoto University. This article aims to summarize it and to review the bright side and the dark side as well. There were several successful pioneering works in the mountaineering, while there were many fatal accidents too. The 100 years history of AACK seems to be similar to the life cycle of an individual person. There might be the following four stages: the young days after the birth, adulthood, old age, and really old to the final end. In a sense, the Academic Alpine Club of Kyoto (AACK) has the longest history among the several mountaineering clubs in Kyoto University. AACK represents the history of mountaineering in the past 100 years. The mission of AACK in the near future may be summarized in the following three points. Firstly, there is a mission to make the archives of documents and photos and films on the activity of Kyoto University in the area of mountaineering. Secondly, AACK is expected to support the students' activity of Kyoto University Alpine Club (KUAC). Thirdly, AACK must find the new perspective in the area of academic activity. In this sense, there is a new attempt that my colleagues and me has been promoting. It is called the leading graduate program of Primatology and Wildlife Science to encourage the scientific activity based on the fieldwork.
