Abstract

In our earlier paper "Study of Nakane Genkei (I)" we referred to Nakane 's birthplace, his life and families based on a stone inscription titled "Shutei sensei no hi(The monument of master Shutei) " and a preface of the Sansei zoku-kai(Common commentary on three masters of calendars). In this article, we will first discuss how he learned a method of making calendars and mathematics, then we will discuss how he improved his skill in calendar making through rechecking his own prediction of the solar and lunar eclipse in the Shinsen koreki benran (Newly-compiled handbook on old calendars) which was published in 1685. Finally we will point out that he already had received some new information on western astronomy in his youth.
