<論説>春秋時代の結盟習俗について

Abstract

従来主に政治史的観点から研究されてきた会盟は、実際は、春秋時代の個人と個人の関係をさえ含む、あらゆる人的結合関係を強化・秩序化する結盟習俗の諸侯国問に於ける表われとして理解できる。しかも、習俗と称し得るほど普遍的に結盟が存在するのは、他の時代には見当たらぬ極めて春秋的な事象であり、この時代の理解を深化するための絶好の材料と言えよう。本稿は、まず結盟の習俗化の様相を叙述し、ついで、結盟の儀式、神々について言及する。その上で、結盟を契機として当事者間に生ずる義務内容の分析から、それが擬制的な兄弟関係を措定するものであったことを明らかにした。春秋時代の人々は、股・西周以来の血縁的秩序の崩壊に由来する極めて激烈な歴史状況に際して、こうした結盟習俗を以て対応したのであった。

Hui meng 会盟 has been studied at the view of political history. Now, we consider it as the custom of the covenant among the monarchies, which strengthened and ordered the personal relationship at each level in the Spring and Autumn period. Being a more universal and customary phenomenon than in any other period, hui meng is a very useful material in order to understand the state of those days. In this paper, at first I describe the process by which hui meng was getting more and more customary. Next, I consider the ceremony and the divinity in it. Finally, based on the analysis of the duties that hui meng caused among the interested parties, I make it clear that the fictitious brotherhood was produced. In those days people coped by hui meng with the condition that the order, which was based on the blood relationship, had been breaking down since Yin 殷 and the Western Zhou 西周 periods.
