dc.description.abstractIn November, 1957, Ashi Kesang Choden Wangchuck, Ashi Mayeum Choying Wangmo Dorji, Ashi Tashi Chodzom Dorji, and Dr. Kabo Tshering visited Kyoto all the way from the Kingdom of Bhutan. Some Japanese members paid a courtesy call on them. At that time, there was no official relationship between two countries. This may be one of the most important events in the history of friendship between Bhutan and Japan. In this article, I would like to focus on a photograph which was taken when they met together and mainly describe about Ashi Mayeum Choying Wangmo Dorji, Ashi Tashi Chodzom Dorji, Dr. Kabo Tshering, Prof. Joji Ashida, and Mr. Sekikazu Nishimura.en
