As the sequel of my first report of this theme, this paper is focused on the historicity of school culture of universities and senior high schools. The senior high school in the pre-war era was positioned as a higher education system, but the current senior high school is positioned as upper secondary education after the postwar reform of the school system. By looking at both pre-war and postwar higher education and upper secondary education from the viewpoint of school culture, many interesting points were found. This report shows various historical examples in terms of students' sports, students' lives, the connection to the Samurai era, the history of women's education, school buildings, the origins of schools, the names of schools, the spirit of the school's foundation, alumni associations, etc. There are several findings about the history of Japanese universities and senior high schools in this study, such as: Some schools including former Imperial Universities and Normal Schools (Shihan- Gakko) has a long tradition of students' sports; Some schools have been located in the sites of former castles or taken over the traditions originated from the Samurai clan schools (Hanko); Private schools including Christian schools have played a huge role in women's education; Some historical school buildings are designated as cultural properties and functioning as symbols of the schools; The names of universities sometimes represent the unique history of each institutions. Many of them have been and will be making the most of as resources of the brand power or public relation strategy for each institution.en
