<論考>村上春樹の紀行文と小説における相互影響について --1980年代から2010年代まで--

Abstract

In this paper, we will consider the interaction between Haruki Murakami's travel writings and novels. The works included here are his travel writings: Toi taiko, Henkyo, kinkyo, and Laos ni Ittai Nani ga Aru to Iundesuka, and his novels: Sputnik Sweetheart, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, and Colorless Tasaki and the Year of His Pilgrimage are considered. First, it will be argued that Murakami's travel serves as fieldwork for his novels. Next, it will be clarified how everydayness is translated into extraordinariness, and, conversely, how extraordinariness is translated into everydayness in Murakami's works. In conclusion, this paper shows that Murakami's novels have a direct influence on his travel writings as well as vice versa.
