<実践報告>Kyoto iUP生を対象とした「日本語上級(文献講読IIIA)」での実践 --再話活動による使用語彙の拡充を目指して--

Abstract

本稿は、京都大学の学部留学生プログラムKyoto iUPの学生を対象とした日本語科目の一つ「日本語上級(文献講読IIIA)」での実践報告である。本授業では、何を読むかは学生個々人が決めることとし、教師はその読みの過程を支援するファシリテーターの役割を取ることとした。教室活動として、学生同士が互いに教師役を担う活動、他の学生が読んできた話の内容を聞き、それを再生する「再話」の活動を取り入れた。自分が読んできた文献を説明するためには、相手の理解度を確認しながら「話す」力、その文献で使われる語彙の意味を正確に理解し「話す」力が求められる。また、再話するためには、話を「聞く」力、その内容をまとめて「話す」力が求められる。文献の内容を再構築するこれらの活動を通して、語彙が拡充されることを目指した。授業観察およびアンケートへの回答からは、再話を軸にした活動が、専門教育を見据えた日本語使用場面の練習の機会にもなっていたことが確認された。

This paper reports on the practice of one of the Japanese language courses, “Advanced Japanese (Academic Reading IIIA)”, for students of Kyoto University Undergraduate International Program (Kyoto iUP). In this class, students decide on their reading materials individually, and the teacher acts as a facilitator to support the reading process. In the classroom, an activity was introduced where students play the role of teacher for each other, listening to the contents of the reading materials other students have read and “retelling” the articles by recounting them. In order to explain an article one has read, one requires the ability to “speak” while checking the other person's level of understanding, and the ability to “speak” with an accurate understanding of the meaning of vocabulary used in the material. In order to retell a story, it is necessary to have the ability to “listen” to the article and to “speak” while summarizing the content of the material. The aim of this was to expand vocabulary through these activities to reconstruct the content of the material that was read. From class observations and responses to questionnaires, it was confirmed that activities centering on retelling reading materials provided opportunities for practice in situations using Japanese with a view toward specialized education.
