Abstract: This study centers on Taiwan's AI education strategy --“AI Education X AI Education ”-- and seeks to delineate Taiwan's approach to human resource development amidst the AI era by contrasting its goals and initiatives with those of Japan. The analysis reveals distinct differences between the strategies of the two nations. Japan's approach to training is relatively decentralized, featuring unique strategies for each educational tier while putting emphasis on acquiring basic AI-related knowledge and literacy. Conversely, while acknowledging the cultivation of shared competencies, Taiwan's development measures primarily underscore the cultivation of specialized competencies specific to AI utilization. Furthermore, a consistent curriculum structure is evident from primary to higher education levels. Primary and secondary education emphasizes nurturing foundational abilities, whereas higher education expects students to build upon these foundational skills with specialized AI knowledge and expertise. In contemplating strategies for adapting to the AI age, these comparative observations underscore the necessity to articulate a clear vision for the future society and comprehensively assess the knowledge, skills, and values requisite at each educational stage.
