抄録: This paper first describes the history of virtual reality (VR) technology, which dates back to the 1960s and has been transitioning to the next generation every 30 years. Next, the paper discusses environmental education and disaster prevention education that incorporate VR technology, citing practical examples at national and local governments, schools, and other institutions. Next, the authors created VR videos on a trial basis, and examined the changes in students' awareness after viewing the videos. As issues in VR education, the report states that there are still few practical examples of VR education, in addition to economic issues and evaluation issues for learners. Finally, it points out that VR technology can provide innovative learning experiences in the field of education and support practical learning in areas such as environmental issues and disasters, which are difficult to understand unless they actually happen, and in areas where students learn by using their imagination, even though they have not necessarily experienced them as their own problems yet.
