dc.description.abstract | This paper aims to clarify the issues and arguments for education posed by Martin Heidegger (1889-1976), and to obtain a new direction for educational studies focusing on Heidegger's philosophy. To this end, this paper unravels what Heidegger tells us about education in his lecture entitled `Traditional Language and Technological Language' which was held for schoolteachers in 1962, from the perspectives of `school', `technology' and `language'. From this examination, it is clear that Heidegger's critique of education is based on two points: (1) the absence of the question of Being in the technological age and (2) the necessity to reconsider the concept of Bildung. Furthermore, it is elucidated that the question of Being, a central theme in Heidegger's philosophy, is similarly pertinent into reconsidering education. In conclusion, as a new direction for educational studies focusing on Heidegger's philosophy, this paper suggests that it is necessary to specifically elucidate Heidegger's critique of Bildung and anthropology. This paper demonstrates that it is necessary to explore Heidegger's critique of education as a new avenue to authentically comprehend the theme of `Ontology and Education' through the lens of Heidegger's philosophy. | en |
