芸術における技能の修得・習熟・伝承過程の再構築 --G. ベイトソンのコミュニケーション理論と〈優美〉概念を軸に--

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to develop a coherent framework for analysing the phenomena of acquisition, mastery, and transmission of traditional artistic skills using G. Bateson's communication theory and the concept of `grace'. The paper reorganises the basic concepts of Bateson's epistemology and communication theory, leading to a structural model of the `mind', in which selfcorrective communication circuits are hierarchically stacked. This paper identifies the purpose of art as the quest of `grace', or the integration of multiple levels of the mind, with consciousness at one pole and unconsciousness at the other. This opens up the possibility of analysing and explaining at a high level of abstraction the phenomena observed in the process of acquiring, mastering, and transmitting skills in the arts.
