Abstract

This paper reports on the detailed process of how the Department of Teacher Education (Kinki University) effectuated the "Seminar via E-mail : how to write an essay in the Teacher Certification Examination" and published the seminar's contents as a trade edition. As this was the first time for nine teachers of the Department to teach students how to write an essay by means of mail, many problems arose. For example, it was difficult for teachers to unify their differences on what should be regarded as a good essay. A copyright concern also arose. However, as everyone on the mailing list could read all the essays and corrections, the seminar provided teachers with a good opportunity to study each other's teaching methods and to promote faculty development.
