抄録: The purpose of this study is to illustrate how Shinshu University has developed its FD system by means of peer reviews on teaching. To design an FD system suitable for a university, it is necessary to investigate its institutional characteristics. Peer reviews on teaching seemed to be an appropriate choice for Shinshu University, because they can meet the uniqueness of each faculty, and function not only as an assessment tool but also as a support tool for teachers. Moreover, class observation followed by directed discussion enables FD staffs to grasp teachers' educational needs. Two challenging tasks appeared at the end of the first year of the peer review project. One is that we have to make peer review easy and sustainable. The other is that we should have more active discussions after reviewing classes. In the following year various kinds of topics were more actively discussed than in the previous year, because more classes participated in the peer review project. The future direction of Shinshu University's FD system was thus designed based on the results of the two-year trial of peer reviews.
