Abstract

This paper presents some results obtaihed from a series of experiments on the strength and*behavior of structural connection consisting of centrifugally-cast steel pipe column and wide flangebeam. Three types experiments were carried out; "vertical load type", "horizontal load type", andsimplified "tension type" tests.Test result implies that the thickness of the pipe column at the connection significantly affectsthe strength and behavior of the beam-to-column connectioi~s as the ones investigated, and so doesthe existence of ring stiffeners. The result also indicates that this type of connect(ons has muchbetter characteristics both in strength and in ductility, when ring stiffeners are provided than whenwithout them.
