Abstract: | The effects of the relativistic electronic function with respect to the spatial distribution of the deuteron--a possible interaction of the electron in the nucleus with a finite radius--on the hyperfine structure of the deuterium have been investigated on the standpoint of an extension of the Fermi theory. Although the numerical result of the present theory has refined Fermi's result to a certain extent, it has been impossible on this phenomenological line to explain the major part of the discrepancy with the experimental result. But the influence of the nuclear electric quadrupole interaction with the bound electron in the vicinity of the origin is left behind. After these considerations, therefore, a limitation at the present stage of the theory of hyperfine structures will be shown explicitly in relation to the Bohr-Low theory. |
