Abstract

The article examines the policy, development and distinctive points of the telephone system in the Manchurian Telegraph and Telephone Company (MTTC). The MTTC had managed the electronic communication media (telegraph, telephone and radio) in the Manchukuo from 1933 to 1945. The MTTC had tried to integrate the telephone network for effectivness, which consisted of the cable network, nevertheless wireless technique had developed yet. The MTTC developed the inter-city and long-distance telephone network along with the existed station rail roots. In addition, the same technique enabled to connect Japan and the north and the central China. The MTTC played the role of the bridgehead for establishing the East Asia Communication network. Finally, the experience to talk directly in Japanese through telephone between the Manchukuo and Japan evoked the disappearance of the sense that the long distance existed, made it appeared the sense that it was very near and that it was the Japanese dominant area.
