抄録: | The purpose of this study is to present Shin'ichi Hisamatsu as a philosopher-practitioner by analyzing the contradiction between his thoughts and the narratives of his practices, especially in the Japanese tea ceremony. Although Hisamatsu was a leading philosopher of the Kyoto School, his ideas have received little attention from academic researchers in philosophy. This may be owing to his dual roles as a philosopher and as a practitioner. This combination has led to a contradiction around "power" or "authority": in a philosophical context, he emphasized the importance of awareness outside of religious authority, but he was intent on being an authority himself in a practical context. In order to portray Shin'ichi Hisamatsu in terms of this contradiction, I begin by introducing the basic framework of his thought. Second, I consider two practical examples of his power related to the Japanese tea ceremony, which were performed in front of an audience. The first example of power is based on the "Japanese Cultural World Mission" and the second is generated in an encounter between his practice of the tea ceremony and the version provided in a classic book on the Japanese tea ceremony. Third, I present his explanation of "power" or "authority, " which implies micro power relations should be eliminated and macro power relations should be retained. In conclusion, I describe him as a philosopher-practitioner, as being a person of absolute authority who has the destiny to be eliminated. |
