中国チベット自治区・未踏の霊山カイラース -四宗教の複合的聖地- (特集3: 雲南懇話会からの寄稿)

Abstract

カイラース山（海抜6656メートル。別名カンリンポチェ）は、中華人民共和国のチベット自治区南西部に位置し、ヒンドゥー教徒、ジャイナ教徒、仏教徒、ポン教徒たちが等しく霊山と崇める聖域として知られている。1992年に歴史学者の色川大吉氏を隊長とする日本西蔵聖山踏査隊注1）に参加し、巡礼者への聞き取り調査を行った。その時の記録をもとに、カイラースに関する4宗教の宗教的背景、踏査の概要、巡礼者調査について報告する。 Mt. Kailas (6656m., Gans rin po che) is situated in southwest Tibet, China. This mountain is known as one of the most sacred mountains for Hindus, Jains, Buddhists and Pon believers. In 1992, I had the opportunity to participate the Japan-Tibet Sacred Mountain Traversing Party and made the intensive investigation of pilgrims through interview. On the basis of that research, I report the each religious background of four religions, the summary of traverses and the comments on the interview to pilgrim.
