心理臨床学における象徴の概念とその機能について --象徴形成のプロセスに着目して--

Abstract

心理臨床において, 象徴はかねてからクライエントの理解のために重視されてきただけでなく, 象徴形成が難しい者にとって象徴が生じること自体が大きな意味を持つとされてきた。本論では, 心理臨床学における象徴に関して, 特に象徴形成のプロセスを中心に文献的考察を行った。象徴形成の基盤としては, 融合的状態から分化が進むことが緒論により述べられてきた。しかし, 象徴は別個のものである自－他をつなげる「橋」としての機能を持ち, 分化とは逆の動きである融合への希求が存在し続けることも関わっていると考えられる。また, 象徴形成は対となる二物から生じていると同時に, その両者を形成しているとも考えられる。さらに外界へ向けてだけではなく, 内界との橋渡しでもあり, 内的なまとまりをもった主体を作ることにも関わると思われる。このような象徴形成と主体の生成は, 継時的, 因果的というよりも, 同時的, 弁証法的に生じるものと考えられる。

Symbols have been important to understand a client in psychotherapy, and it is meaningful that symbols appear in psychotherapy for people who have difficult for symbol formation. This paper discusses symbols and the process of symbol formation with reference to some theories. It has been said separation of the internal world and the external world or self and others plays an important role in symbol formation. In addition, a symbol is a bridge between "self" and "others", and not only separation but also the motion for fusion involves symbolization paradoxically. Symbol formation arises from "opposition, " while the two opposing concepts are paradoxically formed by the symbol. In addition, symbol formation makes it possible to communicate with the internal world, and therefore it is involved in establishing subjectivity and the inner world with unity. Generation of subjectivity and symbol formation are considered to occur not in turn or causally but dialectically and simultaneously.
