自死を望む人への心理臨床家のありかた

Abstract

死にたいと訴えるクライエントにいかに関わっていくのか考えるため, フロイトの「死の欲動」に端を発する精神分析の論考を紐解いた。その中で, クラインの「羨望と感謝」, ウィニコットの「破綻恐怖」を取り上げた。そして, 人々の自殺願望の背景に, 生育歴に深く根を下ろした死に憑かれた自我があること, 「死にたい」というと同時に, 「なぜ生きているのか」という問いがあることを見いだすとともに, 生の欲動も死の欲動も, 同一の円環として位置づけられることに気づいた。さらに不治の病に苦しんだ著者の著作を通して, 過去の生活を死んだものとして受け入れること, 受け入れようとすることが, 絶望から人を救う唯一の方法なのではないかと考えた。自殺願望の強いクライエントに対して心理臨床家がやるべきことは, 自己破壊へと進もうとする, その背景にある不安, 恐怖をくり返し分析していくことであると見出した。
