池田小菊による学習指導の理論と実践 --木下竹次との異同に注目して--

Abstract

池田小菊は、奈良女子高等師範学校附属小学校で、木下竹次による「学習法」の初期において実践を試みたが、やがてそれに疑問を持ち、木下の所論を批判した人物である。本稿は、木下と対比しながら、「学習法」を批判した上で、池田自身が子どもの個性の尊重を図る学習指導をどのように想定したかを解明することを目的とした。検討の結果、池田は他律的教育を批判する点では木下と同じ立場をとりつつも、個性教育を通じて目指した子ども像に両者の違いが見られた。「自由」と「協同」の精神を身につけた子どもの育成を目指した木下に対して、池田は、学習を通して対象に陶酔する「個性者」を育てることをねらった。この考え方に基づき、池田は、授業の「型」づくりに重点を置いた木下とは違い、対象への陶酔に至るまでの観念の発展に着目した。彼女は、教材内容を媒介してかつ学級集団の力によって「個性者」を育成することに焦点を合わせたのである。

Kogiku Ikeda practiced Takeji Kinoshita's “Learning Method (Gakushu-hou)” educational theory in its early phase at the Elementary School attached to Nara Women's Higher Normal School. However, she also questioned it and criticized Takeji Kinoshita's theory. This paper discusses how Ikeda envisioned the teacher's leadership that respects the individuality of the child. Ikeda took the same position as Kinoshita in criticizing heteronomous education, but there were differences between them in the image of the child they aimed for through individualized education. In contrast to Kinoshita, who aimed to educate children with a spirit of “freedom” and “cooperation, ” Ikeda aimed to educate “individuality” who could be absorbed in the object through learning. Based on this idea, Kinoshita focused on the creation of lesson templates. In contrast, Ikeda focused on the development of ideas to cause children to become absorbed in the object. She focused on “individuality” through the content of the material and by the energy of class groups.
