性的マイノリティ(LGB+)に関する性的アイデンティティ発達研究の概観 --段階モデルからマイルストン研究への潮流変化に着目して--

Abstract

性的マイノリティは慢性的な差別や偏見にさらされるマイノリティ・ストレスを抱えやすく、心理的支援の重要性が指摘される。心理臨床実践では、従来、性的アイデンティティ発達にかかる線形かつ単一の段階モデルが多く参照されてきたが、多様な発達経路を持つ個人差を十分説明できていないとの批判があった。近年、重要なライフイベントをマイルストンと位置付けてそのタイミングや順序を調査し、さまざまなパターンとその要因を検証するマイルストン研究が増加している。マイルストン研究の増加の背景には、多様性への社会の受容の高まり、実態に即した母集団の把握を可能とする調査手段の向上、個人差に着目する研究方法の登場が考えられる。本稿では、性的アイデンティティ発達研究における段階モデルからマイルストン研究への潮流を概観した。今後の課題として、交差性を重視した実証的研究、発達経路の個人差を踏まえた心理臨床実践の充実が求められる。

Sexual minorities are subject to minority stress, which is characterized by chronic exposure to discrimination and prejudice. The necessity of psychological support for this demographic has been well documented. In clinical psychology, the prevailing model of sexual identity development is a linear singlestage model. However, this model has been criticized for its inability to adequately explain individual differences, particularly in cases of diverse developmental pathways. In recent years, an increasing number of milestone studies have been conducted to investigate the timing and sequence of important life events by positioning them as milestones and examining various patterns and factors. The rise in milestone studies can be attributed to three factors: society's growing acceptance of diversity; improvements in survey instruments that enable a more realistic understanding of the population; and the emergence of research methods that focus on individual differences. This paper reviews the trend from stage models to milestone studies in sexual identity development research. Future challenges include empirical research emphasizing intersectionality and the enhancement of psychological clinical practice taking into account individual differences in developmental pathways.
