女性同士の親密な関係とメディアを巡る社会学研究の系譜と展望

Abstract

本研究は、女性同士の親密な関係とメディアを巡る社会学研究の系譜を整理し、今後の研究の可能性を展望する。女性同士の親密な関係が学問の俎上に乗ったのは、1980年代の文学研究での少女小説の再評価による。これを手掛かりに社会学も、少女向けメディアによる「少女」の構築や、メディア言説による「女性同性愛」概念の構築に関して研究を展開したが、明治期から時代を下る形で研究が進められたため、1970年代以降に関し検討の余地がある。文学研究はその後「ジェンダー批評」を確立させ、女性同士の親密な関係を描く様々なメディア作品について、社会学に対しても示唆的な議論を展開しているが、表象の歴史的・社会的文脈の検討に課題がある。以上から、ジェンダー批評の探索的知見を手掛かりとした、女性同士の親密な関係の表象を成立させている歴史的・社会的文脈の検討が、メディアによるジェンダー秩序の再生産と変動を捉えるために有用であると提案した。

This paper organizes and evaluates sociological research on media representations of intimate relationships between women and provides insights for future research. The academic discussion originated with the reevaluation of girls' novels in literary studies in the 1980s. Building on this foundation, sociological research has examined how “Shojo” is constructed through media for young women and how media discourses have shaped the concept of “female homosexuality.” However, as these studies often focus on historical perspectives, these remained room for further study after the 1970s. Meanwhile, literary studies, through the development of “gender criticism”, have contributed significant insights into representations of female intimacy across various media. Despite this progress, such discussions frequently lack a thorough analysis of the historical and social contexts underlying these portrayals. By integrating findings from gender criticism into an interdisciplinary approach, this paper highlights the importance of examining the sociohistorical dynamics that shape media representations, thereby deepening our understanding of role of the media in maintaining or disrupting gender order.
