Abstract

In this article, the clinical meaning of the combined therapy of individual psychotherapy and group therapy in psychiatry-day care is considered by proposing cases from the author's clinical practices. Among them, this paper describes characteristics as the intermediate region of the day care, which has a gradual structure close to a daily life. Moreover, focusing on the structure of therapy that makes clients come and go between day care and psychotherapy rooms, the author considers the bridging function through the concrete properties of a therapist. Such practices help therapists receive the expressions of a client's inner world swaying continually in the growth process of the client's ego. Sharing the ways of clients from the phase of concrete and experimental relations just preceding psychotherapy into the psychotherapy sessions where more abstract and linguistic expressions of the mentality are treated, and this activity is believed to support the client's process of internalizing the container of his or her mind.
