<実践報告>ティーチングアシスタントの視点から語られる授業実践に関する事例研究

Abstract

本実践報告の目的は、3名のティーチングアシスタント(以下、TA)が記述したフィールドノートを対象に、質的な分析をおこなうことにより、TAは、授業内のどこに着目しているのかを把握し、その着眼点の差異に影響を与えている要因を一事例研究として、明らかにすることである。データ収集は、早稲田大学人間科学部で開講されているMedia Production Studiesクラス(15週)で行われた。その結果、TAは、[学生についての観察][授業の捉え方][TAについて]に着目していることが明らかになった。加えて、TA経験の有無やその経験年数が、授業を捉える際の(1)視点(観察的/1人称的)、(2)単位(クラス全体/特定の学生に着目)、(3)自己省察(前向き/後ろ向き)に影響を与えていることも明らかになった。以上の結果より、TAの視点からデータを収集し、授業を捉え、質的な分析をおこなうというTA研究における、授業分析方法の新規性についても提案を試みる。

This case study aimed to clarify how differently the three teaching assistants observed and described the various class activities by investigating the field notes taken by the TAs with different levels of TA experience of the class, "Media Production Studies" offered at Waseda University. The three TAs also actively participated in actual class teaching, and activities. The compiled data of field notes was analyzed systematically and qualitatively, and was arranged into a matrix based on the following three aspects. The TAs focused on 1) observation of the students' activities, 2) how class activities were conducted, and 3) overall attitude toward the TA duties in the class. Also, the difference in TA experience interestingly showed 1) wide-range observation (most experienced TA) and first-person perspective (inexperienced TA), 2) focusing on the entire class (most experienced TA) and on a particular student (inexperienced TA), and 3) positive reflection (most experienced TA) and passive reflection (inexperienced TA). Further, this study could contribute to the development of a new method of data collection and class analysis, by using TAs' field note in the field of TA studies.
