ロイス・サドラーによる鑑識眼アプローチの認識論 --熟達した質的判断による学習評価のメカニズム--

Abstract

本稿は、熟達した質的判断(鑑識眼)を中心原理とするサドラーの所論の根底にある認識や考え方がどのようなものか明らかにし、氏の評価方法論に関する主張がどのような評価の原理的理解に支えられているのかを浮き彫りにすることを目的とする。氏は、複雑な質的判断のメカニズムを、創成原理、階層構造、メタクライテリアの行使、シャープとファジーなクライテリア、クライテリアの潜在化と顕在化という特徴的な概念装置で説明する。このような概念装置で記述される氏の評価論の特徴は、ポランニーの認識論(暗黙知の理論)と重ね合わせてみることで明瞭に現れる。氏の所論の基底には、質的判断という複雑な営みを操るために、明文化された価値・規則体系を適用する技量の形成ではなく、事例の中に内在する価値・規則体系を、ある種暗黙的に掴み取ることで、評価熟達知を形成する必要があるという認識がある。

This article clarifies the basic ideas and epistemology underlying Royce Sadler’s concept of connoisseurship, which is a highly developed form of competence in qualitative judgement. It first identifies a series of his unique conceptual devices to describe the mechanism of complex qualitative judgment; namely, the emergent principle, hierarchical structure, exercise of meta-criteria, sharp/fuzzy criteria, and latent/manifest criteria. Then, it illuminates the central features of Sadler’s scholarship, exemplified through such conceptual devices, by drawing on Michael Polanyi’s epistemology (the structure of tacit knowledge). What emerges through this exploration is Sadler’s key proposition that to be a proficient commander of complex qualitative judgement requires us to tacitly grasp the value and rule systems inherent in a given case, rather than adopting an explicit description of the value and rule systems.
