通信制大学に対面する機会は必要か --メディア授業制度化をめぐる政策と通信制大学の取組からの一考察--

Abstract

本稿は通信制大学のメディア授業制度化をめぐる政策と通信制大学の取組から、現在の学生像を艦みても問題ない制度の検討がなされたかを考察した。技術の進歩によりメディア授業は面接授業と同等の教育効果を持つと考えられた一方で、青年期の学生や社会人経験のない学生の人間形成のためには直接対面する機会を与えることまたは補完することが重要であるとされ、それがメディア授業で可能であるとは言われていない。多様な学生を想定した生涯学習やグローバル化による単位互換の推進を背景に、通信制においても制度化されてきたが、青年期の学生や社会人経験のない学生の人間形成の機会をメディア授業のみで解決する策は示されていない。近年の学生像の変化に鑑み、各大学の自主的な取組は多く行われているものの、いずれにしても選択制である。現在の学生像に鑑みた質保証制度等による制度設計が望まれる。

This paper examines the policies surrounding the institutionalization of media-based education in correspondence universities and the universities' efforts to determine whether the system remains appropriate considering current student profiles. Advances in technology have made it possible to achieve educational effectiveness through media-based classes comparable to face-to-face classes. However, it was considered important to provide or supplement direct face-to-face opportunities for the character development of adolescent students and those without professional experience, and it was not claimed that this could be guaranteed by media-based classes. While media-based classes have been institutionalized in the context of lifelong learning for diverse students and the promotion of credit transfer amid globalization, no strategies have been proposed to address the character development opportunities for adolescent students and those without professional experience solely through mediabased classes. Although many universities voluntarily supplement face-to-face interactions in consideration of recent changes in student profiles, these measures remain optional. Therefore, designing a quality assurance system and institutional framework takeing into account the current student profiles is desirable.
