イギリス成人教育の方法論的成立に関する史的考察 : 初期テュートリアル・クラスの生成過程に注目して

Abstract

This study focused on the historical process of the making of University Tutorial Movements in the UK in the 1900s. The framework of 'adult education', with its rich accumulation of its theories and practices, has been very efficient and effective in the field of lifelong and social education. After reviewing the University Extention Movement and WEA challenges for the higher education for the working-class people, we examined the newly felt learning needs for the new strategy of learning among the working-class people. We saw that they had developed into the new Learning/Teaching Model such as Tutorial Classes. Looking closely at the several important elements and features of the Tutorial Class Model, the historical meaning and pure nature of 'adult education' was examined.
